Milestone: How to Keep Coming Up With Material
Anything that involves writing and brainstorming can be a challenge to come up with material. At first, you may have many thoughts and lots of topics to talk about. After a certain period of time (it can be a month, a year, or a decade), you may start to run out of ideas. It can be a challenge because maybe some topics didn’t work out for you or perhaps it can be that you don’t know what your readers would really like to read. I see this as one of the challenges when you write for your readers because trends change, things that are new can get old, and every individual has a different preference on what they are seeking. There is so much change that is out of your control that you’ll hit roadblocks here and there. How do you overcome these obstacles? You embrace change!
Change is one of the hardest challenges to overcome. An example would be Blockbuster. They would not change from VHS to DVDs. Where did the company end up? They didn’t want to change and adapt to the digital era, therefore, Blockbuster went out of business. In this particular case, Blockbuster didn’t adapt to new material and since times have changed, the older material could not have worked its way around. The bottom line is to keep at new material. Research, seek out help, and you may have to take risks at well.
This doesn’t only apply to businesses, this can we even be event planning. I have a friend who changes all of the time. Sometimes, he doesn’t want to talk with me, play games, or even want to hang out. Many time, there are last minute changes. What do I do? I attempt to understand him while seeing and feeling where he is coming from. Once I understand more and more, I will not only be closer, this will open up doors to finding out what he wants and seeking places that would match both of our preferences. When someone doesn’t open up at first, then the other person can try first. I know that this can be a difficult task to conduct, it will definitely pay off in the long run.
As I am writing all of the material that you have read, it’s difficult for me to come up with new material. Most of the material that you are reading happened within the past week. I don’t blog for the view, I blog because I want to give all of my knowledge that would connect me to other individual and make a difference. When you are coming up with material, remember:
- Embrace Change!
- Seek out help
- Take any advice that can be beneficial
- Keep trying no matter how hard of the struggle
- When you hit a roadblock, get back up and keep trying
- Don’t get discouraged, keep making an effort
- When there is something that is out of your control, find ways around it
- Find people that are in the same boat as you
